The Coming Alive of Internet Marketing - The Series© 2007 Raymond Siew
This series is dedicated to fellow intrepid netpreneurs and towards seeing an alternative perspective and a safer, saner WWW for business.
Before I continue, I would like to acknowlege the help of Nancy Lowery, The Natural Leader ...Instinctive Leadership Development (www.TheNaturalLeader.ca), for her editorial input. About the Series and Our Featured Experts This is how the series and promotion work: At different parts of the series, experts will be invited to expand or clarify topics written by me under this theme. The final outcome will be a Viral eBook that will be promoted on the WWW via eMasters' network. *EXPERTS on psychology and thinking systems as well as business coaches and strategists are welcome to contact me to participate in any of the topics below. Here are the topics I will cover in this series (although not written in stone)...
Introduction - The Nature of the WWW and How It Works© 2007 Raymond SiewThe WWW is full of netpreneurs and with new ones joining by the droves. Many have never been in business before and can easily be lost in the din and clamour of perhaps the most complicated, and distorted business environment today. On the WWW, constantly changing business models have turned many a traditional business on its head. There are also constantly evolving paradigms. One begins to wonder if there are any tenets left? One salient feature of the WWW is that many netpreneurs are alone, with limited knowledge, and so become easy prey to "solutions" given out of context by "experts". There is almost no accountability, and due diligence is severely limited in this environment. In order to understand the WWW, I have started with the topic on clarity so we can be better aware of the tools of the trade used by master illusionists who make full use of the distortions to fluorish, and leave you spinning your wheels. I will also need to examine the business models of Multí-Level Markéting (specifically m1m's which exist solely on the WWW) and Affiliate Programs because many have played a pivotal role in exploiting the distortions, as well as the aftermath left in their wake. By bringing together relevant and trusted experts around this topic, eMasters hopes to contribute by bringing perspective back to the WWW. Part 1 - Clarity© 2007 Raymond Siew" AND THE TRUTH SHALL SET YOU FREE. "You are likely familiar with this "phenomena". We see it on Reality TV, in boardrooms, chess competitions, the local bar. And on the WWW? And that "phenomena" is this... When you are caught up in a "drama" with another person, the other people around you are more likely to see what's REALLY happening a lot clearer than you can. And that is because, as neutral observers, our dispassion allows us to view situations more objectively. But, when we are entangled in that "drama", we often bring in our own anxieties, fears, past hurts, ego, etc. to filter our perceptions. If that's not enough, we can also bring along our other favourite toys to play---denial, rationalisation and mental constructs. This further clouds our perception, and prevents us from seeing reality with clarity. So how do we get out of this? How do we become clearer on issues? Some have suggested scientific or rational reasoning, and so was born the tools of that trade, deductive and inferential logic, etc. Are they a good alternative? Does it solve this "phenomena"? Let us look further. Take this for example... We have a task of building a business and the goal is financial success. Have you ever heard "the answer is right in front of you"? Have you ever purchased the next big business secret only to learn the "secret to success" was something you knew all along? Do you now wait for the next "secret" and buy that one too? Or do you choose to wake up to reality... because really, deep down inside, you know that the REAL secret is there is NO secret. I know seeing reality for what it really is, is painful... but bear with me. I'm no different, I've done the same myself. And many, many times too. My problem is, I'm lazy. I could work out the answers myself but no, I relied on someone else to do the thinking for me. Or, I found it too painful to face my reality and so retreated into denial and continued to buy the next illusion. The dreams returned and the pain left. Much better deal, it seems. Does this sound familiar? I digress. OK, back to the task and goal example above... On the balance of things, I have found that it is less painful to look hard and do all I can to get in touch with reality. Questions: Do you really know the business? Are you passionate about it? Are there some technical aspects you ought to learn? Do you have the talent? Are you willing to pay the price? Is there really such a thing where people will pour money in your pocket without you having to get off your butt? Is business really easy? Phew! I'm tired already. All those questions! I can already feel my anxieties and fears. Maybe it's better to stop thinking about these things and K.I.S.S. After all who is this Raymond guy anyway? Will it be painful to carry on listening? You betcha. So do I carry on? What does it hurt most if you do? Those illusions? If you're still with me next week... I'll introduce you to my good friend, my "inner child", and we'll also finally see if scientific reasoning is really all it's cut out to be further down the road. Till next week. Raymond
