Hi

I've some very exciting news to share with you today...

In the works is a brand new ezine! The concept we're planning for it is “LIFESTYLE... with an Asian flavor” -- With the beautiful fusion of east and west that already permeates our daily lives, wherever we are in this world, I trust this concept will bring rich, unique and new perspectives to our readers.

For the last couple of weeks, Ray's been talking to writers about contributing exclusive, top quality, easy-to-read articles that are real, meaningful, insightful... pieces that introduce fresh Asian perspectives and context... stories relevant to today's lifestyle in a shrinking, borderless world. Ray's also talking to local artists/artisans about featuring beautiful art and craft from this region for you to enjoy.

I look forward to your continued support as eMasters prepares to branch out into this new publishing direction. We're targeting mid/end-September to publish the inaugural issue of our new lifestyle ezine. Hope you'll be joining us there -- I'll be popping you an email nearer the time with more details, subscription info, etc.

So what's going to happen to in-the-loop? in-the-loop Ezine will still be around... but it'll be undergoing a revamp! We'll be taking a brief publishing sabbatical for this. And when we come back with the "new" in-the-loop", you'll be seeing a 100% business-oriented ezine featuring only business-related content (Ray will continue to publish his incisive business articles here). in-the-loop will also follow an unscheduled publishing format till further notice.

As for Ray's "Inner Child - Spirituality & Business" book... It's still going to be compiled and published in viral ebook format. However, we've decided to push back its launch date to give Ray more time to get our above 2 projects off the ground, after which he'll knuckle down to complete this book for you. We appreciate your patience and understanding in the interim.

In today's in-the-loop issue, Ray continues to expand on his Inner Child material as he shares with you his reply to one of our readers' question on the "laws of attraction" (thanks for writing to us, Jing Wen) -- Do check out our Readers' Feedback segment below.

Last but not least...

Malaysia will be celebrating 50 years of Independence on 31st August... and I'd like to wish all our Malaysian readers “Happy Merdeka Day”!

Malaysia is in Southeast Asia and home to rich and diverse cultures and peoples, from both east + west, that have found a way to co-exist and grow together. I'm Malaysian and feel great pride to be a part of all this. It's also been a privilege and deeply rewarding experience to be able to do business globally on the www, from my home office... interacting with readers and clients from all corners of the world (bringing them a slice of Malaysia in my emails)... building meaningful relationships and friendships with people I'd otherwise not have a chance to meet.

Till we next speak... Have a blessed day and a wonderful week ahead.

Readers' Feedback

From Jing Wen in Malaysia...

Uncle Raymond,

Remember me? Tuck Khein's sis here.I have seen your article, but I'm still young and I will need time to really understand what it means. One thing I'm interested to know is on the law of attraction. I have only recently heard about it from a friend of mine, and I am wondering if you could share your views with me on that matter, as I would like to know how it really works. Thanks and have a nice day. Say hi to Mark for me.

~ Jing Wen ~

Note: Jing Wen is a past chess champion in my State and one of Mark's first friends on the chess circuit. She is currently doing her first year in university, majoring in accountancy.

Ray's reply...

Dear Jing Wen

Of course I remember you. I hope life is treating you well in the big city.

With regard to the laws of attraction, this is my understanding: I view it as a modern development on the laws of karma, with some significant difference -- This is a spiritual law that differs somewhat from the laws of physics where "opposites" attract. If seen in totality, perhaps there are no contradictions; but if seen in isolation, then spiritual laws state that "like" attract.

For example, selfishness attracts selfishess.

An extension of this will be... neediness attracts dominants, lack of confidence attracts predators. So in this case attracts apparent opposites.

And there is more. I apologise that I cannot give definite references; at the time of writing this, eMasters' site is down and I cannot access my materials, so I will write from memory here -- The new developments to the laws of karma come from advances in quantum physics. The new theories state that if one were to separate particles from the same source and subject one particle to some change, then the sister particle (even if it resides on the opposite end of the known universe) will also undergo change. This phenomenon postulates that perhaps information travels faster than light.

Another phenomenon is that when we attempt to measure one aspect of the particle, this renders the other aspects of the particle unmeasurable. In other words, the observer, by observing a phenomenon, creates its own reality.

I realise this is a mind-twister. It took me many readings to understand this and its implications. Do bear with me. I'll try and use some examples in the hope of clarifying.

The first phenomenon implies that if you change yourself, then the energy that resonates from you will immediately attract a similar soul/spirit (even if it resides on opposite poles of our planet). The flip side of course is that if you are changed by the world, then the universe will conspire to bring you the person (or the situation) whereby you will have the opportunity to learn the lessons you need to learn before you can move on. And if you resist... then the lessons will persist. To me, it seems that it is futile to run away from our fears so I take it as an encouragement to face it in the hope of moving on.

The second phenomenon speaks to me of our perspective -- If we see the world as hopelessly unsalvageable, if we see human beings as inherently evil, then our perspective will cloud our minds to all that could be good out there (or within us).

I believe that many have already come to these conclusions. I believe many want a better world, maybe even all of us. But we don't know how. There have been ideas that say that we can visualise, meditate etc. ourselves to that state so that we can attract, and thereby create, good things in our lives, on our planet.

You have seen me use the word integrity many times in my writings. What does it mean? To me, it means to do everything we can, to use every ounce of knowledge we have, to achieve the results we want. And by using and considering more and more facets, we arrive at clarity.

And so my views are that visualisation and mediation are but aids. Necessary, but insufficient. Our chief problem is fear. Fear clouds.

Let me use a chess example: This is what I have been training Mark to see -- I tell him that the game of chess is complex, but it is his fears that complicate matters. Fears that come from the ego. I argue that it is very unlikely that the Queen would suddenly jump out of the chessboard and knock him on the head. The reputation of his opponent should not be a factor in the game. He needs to trust his skills. The opponent's reputation does not win the game for him. Besides, the game has not even been fought yet. And the reality is that if he wins, it is also extremely unlikely that the opponent will strike him. It is supposed to be a gentleman's game, after all. Yet he fears much. His mind dwells on past defeats, on how he will lift the trophy if he wins. In fact, he is going backwards and forwards so much that he may be present for only 10% of the game. Also his fears put him on narrow focus (as fears do) and cause him to forget his lessons, forget his goals and objectives, cause him to abandon his strategy, etc. etc.

This dialogue in his mind is what I call chatter. Really, it is easy to see how these thoughts distort the reality, but it is so difficult to stop them. It's a bit like a maze; we see the way out but keep going in circles.

And so it is with life. We make excuses, we create mental constructs, we hide behind semantics. So yes, I believe the laws of attraction work... but I am not convinced by the way the proponents of this idea say it's going to work. You don't attract money by visualising how your dream car is going to look like (with all the trimmings and in vivid color). I think you need to learn how business works, I think you need to do some hard work. I think that these parts need to be added in IF the laws of attraction are to have integrity.

And so I propose in my writing that we look at things in the spirit, from the spirit. For the spirit has no fear. The spirit sees connections. The spirit operates in community.

Jing Wen, I'm really glad you wrote. For it's in our youth that lies the promise of a better tomorrow. For in you, I see an enquiring mind. It is not only education but EDUCATION and LEARNING that will take us there... and learning only takes place when we confront our fears, what is real and what is an illusion (like in the chess example above). For without learning, we would only use our education to justify our fears.

As we approach our Independence Day, I invite you to think of what "independence" means to you. For me, it's my right to make my decisions, to make my own mistakes, so long as they do not harm anybody else. For without being able to make my own decisions and trusting my own judgment, there is no independence. The question the laws of attraction begs of me is... Are our fears creating our realities?
