From Jing Wen in Malaysia...Note: Jing Wen is a past chess champion in my State and one of my son Mark's first friends on the chess circuit. She is currently doing her first year in university, majoring in accountancy. Here are extracts from 2 of her emails...Hi..Uncle Raymond.. I do believe that everything happens for a reason, and that there is a reason I am studying for accountancy. That's the amazing thing about the laws of attraction. It enabled me to shift focus. There is a saying, "when you change the way you see things, the things you see will change", and now I'll be using a more positive approach towards life, which I find useful. I know that to embrace accountancy is to embrace my own fears, as I do not have a strong passion for finance. So by choosing this path (not that I wanted to) will equip me with further skills if I would want to have a change in career. Actually, I only recently found out about this law through a friend of mine, and was rather skeptical about applying it but I just went with the flow. It's been merely 3 weeks, but I think I'm a happier person, because I start to view life positively, with opportunities to be explored and discovered. Thanks for your advice. I personally feel you are a determined person with strong interests, and I admire that quality in you. Want to ask you a question: Do u believe in the laws of attraction and that we can absolutely achieve whatever we set out to achieve? ...................................................................................................... Uncle Raymond, I truly agree with what you said about the laws of attraction, still testing to see if it truly works. One question. How will I know if I am in the state of 'being' or not? I would like to share with you my experience these few weeks after I learnt and tried to apply this law. I have developed a greater focus on things, and I begin to see things in a new light, and to feel postive about my life. It is no significant change, but I can feel that there is something within me that is changing, and it makes me feel more confident on my actions, being able to monitor my thoughts and feelings. Do you consider it the state of 'being'? Learning is a constant process, we learn things, but what is really learning? When do we know if we have learnt and truly learnt? When we stop making mistakes? Or when we have successfully applied the knowledge we have learnt? There is definitely no end to learning, but what are the key points to really learn and apply? I know that it is essential not to be too attached to the results, and be patient, because it is not easy to truly be able to fully learn and master this. There's a lot to know and to learn, because this matter is so subjective, but highly interesting. Thanks a lot for your advice, I'm still trying to embrace my fears and to learn to use my talents. Have a nice day, keep in touch. ~ Jing Wen ~ Ray's reply...Dear Jing Wen Thank you for your insightful questions. You have hit the nail on the head! It is my hope that my book, "Inner Child - Spirituality & Business", will comprehensively answer your questions. I will be taking time out shortly to finish this book. I also recommend M. Scott Peck's work "The Road Less Travelled" and "The Different Drum". Another good book (a 3 part series) is by Neale Donald Walsh called "Conversations with God" It is my belief that both authors' works are complementary. Scott understood the process and Neale had the vision. Neale's work describes the laws of attraction very well. But... if the laws of attraction are applied in isolation, then it becomes a form of escape, as I have seen in many. I have described my thinking as that of a spiritual realist and I subscribe not to "common sense" but rather "reality sense". What I'm trying to say here is that we must remain REAL We must examine evidence. Not only in the strict scientific sense, but also the impact of our thoughts and actions to all that goes on around us. And to accept responsibility for it. To learn. When I say learn I do not mean the regurgitation of facts (as we are taught in college). I'm talking about learning from what our thoughts and actions in life produce. I'm saying, observe the things that are going on around you. The things you are creating by your action (or non-action) or thoughts. Now, learning is not an easy thing. We have our egos. To me, the ego is the product of our fears. It protects our inner child. Our egos create illusions and form dramas. In the beginning of our journey in life, we acquire fears... and these fears form and develop our ego. So the laws of attraction at this stage will bring you the lessons you will need to grow. But the ego will resist that growth, using the intelligent and the emotional traps (see preview copy of "Inner Child, Book I"). In the process of growth, when we begin to connect to our spirit (where there is NO fear and NO egos), we truly are able to attract what we want by being. I call this act as "moving beyond the veil". In the veil, your being is full of fears and ego and so you will attract what you need. Am I making sense? What I'm really saying is that before we begin to move in the spirit, the laws of attraction will bring us lessons... if we are open to learning. And, it will continue to bring us the SAME lessons till we have learnt. Till we have moved on. My concerns about the laws of attraction (as currently proliferated) are that they only tell one half of the story In the beginning, there IS struggle and life IS hard. You need to acquire discipline. You need to get over hurdles. And you need to experience every single emotion you were designed to feel. You cannot avoid unhappiness, disappointments, etc. Those emotions are there for a reason. God didn't get it wrong. But I promise you, when you face your adversities with courage and overcome, you will find joy... for the laws of attraction really only works on the other side of the veil. I do not want to be the bearer of bad news, but that is the reality. Many people (the ones I described as neurotics) stop just short of the veil. In your case, at your age, my advice is to THINK a lot. Do not be afraid to think. It's private and only resides in your mind; nobody else can see your thoughts. Think with integrity Consider as many aspects as you can. Make your decisions from ALL that you know, at that time. Do not conveniently miss something out. It will be your BEST decision at that time... and it will be good enough. Take care of your dreams, for they are yours and what defines you. Never let anybody take them away from you. Mean what you say, and say what you mean. Learn from your experience and do not be afraid to try your best. Look around you. We see many examples of people who keep repeating their mistakes over and over and over again. Do not be afraid of failure for that is your stepping stone to success. See yourself (and others) with compassion. And do not do anything that will hurt your spirit or your conscience. A big task, and if you can't achieve it all... it's OK. Do it slowly but DO IT. Don't stop. You can take a rest when you are tired but keep moving forward when you can. You'll get there. I hope I've been of some help... and I hope to see you beyond the veil. "Uncle" Raymond
